Get Lost In A Corn Maze

October 24th, 2009

cornmaze

What’s so fun about running through a corn maze on a hot October afternoon? Last year I tried one (in an attempt to answer that question for myself). What started as a nice little jaunt through those fields of husks became a mind-bending, nerve-wracking race to finish the maze as quickly as possible. Usually, corn mazes aren’t so dramatic…but let me give you this bit of advice. Go to the bathroom BEFORE you enter any maze! Trust me. When your bladder doesn’t feel like its going to pop, a corn maze can totally be an enjoyable thing. Read more »

Buy Some Haunted Portraits

October 23rd, 2009

Last Halloween I bought three of the scariest portraits I’ve ever owned. Your looking at one of them above. These are part of a series called “Haunted Memories Changing Portraits” created by a truly incredible artist named Eddie Allen. You might be familiar with the changing photographs in the Disney’s Haunted Mansion attraction at Disneyland. Remember the pretty lady whose hair turns into snakes? Eddie uses a similar type of technology along with creativity and artistry to turn antique photographs into something much more frightening. He began his first design in 2003 and has added many portraits for purchase since then. He can even create you a custom haunted photograph. Of course you must be on his waiting list because he only does a few customs a year. Browse through his gallery and buy one if you dare!

If you haven’t seen this yet re-cut trailer yet on Youtube, you must. This is an example of the power of editing and how something as sweet as Disney’s classic “Mary Poppins” can become something as sinister and frightening as “Scary Mary”.

I’ve always wanted to do one of those really cool yard haunts for Halloween. Problem is…I never had a yard of my own. Since AFFORDABLE quality homes are still somewhat of a fiction in Southern California, I’ve decided to quit waiting and invite myself to my brothers house for Halloween this year. His home has great front yard haunt potential! Since this is my first attempt, I’ll share with you some great resources and ideas for how you can create a killer halloween yard haunt. Read more »

So your throwing a Halloween party this year and you want to put together a killer Halloween playlist for your guests to enjoy all night? Or maybe you just want to get into the spirit of things by enjoying some creepy music. Well, there are many great music CD’s out there that you can buy to set the mood right. Probably the best Halloween mood music you can find is by Midnight Syndicate, a group whose music is used widely in haunted attractions to provide chilling atmoshphere. They have lots of CD’s out now some of which have titles like Out Of Darkness, The 13th Hour, Vampyre, and The Dead Matter: Cemetary Gates. There are countless other CD’s I could recommend, but instead I’ve compiled a list of songs that you shouldn’t forget to include in your ultimate Halloween playlist. If I’ve missed some, please send in your comments to this post so I can update this list!
